VIA San Antonio Modern Streetcar Design Vison

The design vision proposal of the Modern Streetcar for the VIA Metropolitan Transit in San Antonio, TX, U.S.A.

The Modern Streetcar project was one of six “Smart Move” projects under San Antonio VIA’s plan - a partnership with local and national transportation firms. The project considered offering high-capacity transit service through the downtown area.  Modern Streetcar is a concept of integrating the existing transit services, making them more useful and reliable.  The concept aimed to enhance the quality of life and provide greater accessibility to San Antonio's downtown amenities. 

The key design criteria for the streetcar concept proposal were to create it as a recognisable element, one of the city's future icons. Part of the objective of VIA was to consider the rich and diverse culture and heritage of San Antonio, while delivering on the future aspirations of the city as an innovative, state-of-the-art technology hub for the 21st century.

It is sleek, modern, with the implementation of the latest and most advanced technology for a greater user-passenger/operator experience. The front-end design conveys a strong, confident and proud character.
